What This Means

Leads cost $25.00 each, but only 25.0% of closed opportunities are won, so the real cost of a customer through this funnel is $500.00, well above cost per lead alone. Deals take about 30.0 days to close on average, the pace this funnel can realistically sustain.

Why It Matters

Cost per lead and win rate can each look healthy on their own while the funnel as a whole is inefficient, a cheap lead source that rarely closes still produces an expensive customer once spend is divided by deals won instead of leads generated. Calculating funnel CAC directly from the same inputs used for cost per lead and win rate makes that gap visible immediately, rather than requiring a separate calculation to catch it.

Example

A team spends $10,000 on lead generation, gets 400 leads, wins 20 deals and loses 60, taking a combined 2,400 days to close. Cost per lead is $25, win rate is 25%, sales cycle length is 30 days, and funnel CAC, spend divided by deals won, is $500, a number that only becomes visible once win rate is factored in alongside cost per lead.
